Strange Concept

My friend Kristin died this afternoon. She was diagnosed with cancer at age 35 and died a few months later leaving behind her husband (a pastor) and 4 sweet kids. She had such a good attitude and sweet spirit in the months before she died – what a great example to those around her. This post is not about her death, her life, or the loss we feel in her absence. (Though, if you think of it, please pray for the family.)

Kristin and I were pretty close when I was a senior in high school. She was older than I was and already had a husband and 2 kids. She was cool. And, I had a crush on her brother – this made her even cooler. So, we were friends; we knew each other pretty well for some time.

It is strange to think that my friend is now hanging out with Jesus. Like – she’s face to face with Him. This is not some sort of ethereal concept; my friend is literally with Jesus.

Hey, Kristin, what does He look like???!!!! What does He sound like? What is He wearing? Does He have a beard?

I feel like I have a friend on “the inside!” I mean, Jesus is my Friend, of course, and He’s on “the inside,” but I’ve never seen Him face to face like Kristin has. How cool! I mean – this is awesome! I’m so excited for Kristin that she gets to experience this. I’m excited to see her in Heaven someday when I, too, get to see my Jesus face to face.

Where Am I?
