When I was in high school, I did a science experiment which studied the corrosive properties of certain liquids. I put a galvanized nail and a non-galvanized nail each in their own containers of: Coca-cola, HCl, Windex, water, and rubbing alcohol. The nails soaked – untouched – for 2 weeks.
Coca-cola was the most corrosive of all of the liquids, with HCl coming in a close second. The non-galvanized nail was almost gone, and the galvanized nail was a mere skeleton of its former self. Incredible.
Here’s to Coke! And may you have many happy returns. *burp* Excuse me.
